"There is such a sense of excitement, dedication and drive at the UKDRI right now - it’s an exciting time to join and an honour to be part of such a dynamic and ambitious team." Amy Edmunds
UK DRI Director of Communications and Engagement (Maternity Cover)
Roles & Responsibilities: Delivering the UKDRI’s communications strategy during 2020. Includes developing our patient involvement programme, media training and comms toolkits, managing our partnership with the British Neuroscience Association for their 2021 Festival of Neuroscience, and increasing our focus on external communications.
Amy joined the UKDRI team in January 2020 to cover Lucy Wilson’s role as Director of Communications and Engagement while she is on maternity leave. Amy previously managed communications and engagement for the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre, promoting its portfolio of translational research and experimental medicine in mental health and dementia. Prior to this, she spent 10 years managing communications teams in the charity sector, including five years specialising in interim communications management for charities such as Marie Curie Cancer Care, Mencap, Rethink Mental Illness, and the National Deaf Children’s Society.
Amy is a keen amateur cellist, which takes up most of her spare time. When not playing cello, she can be found tending her garden, fashioning jewellery for her etsy shop or dreaming up off-the-wall cake creations.
