Neurosciences and brain tumour research: joining forces for greater impact

A Task and Finish Working Group, chaired by Chris Witty (DHSC Chief Scientific Adviser), was established in 2016 as a direct result of a parliamentary debate on the funding of brain tumour research in the UK.

Both the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the Brain Tumour Research charity were involved in the process as group members. A report by the group was published in February 2018, and it identified significant opportunities for the brain tumour and neuroscience communities to work in partnership.

In response to the report, the MRC, the Brain Tumour Research charity and the British Neuroscience Association (BNA) are jointly organising a workshop with the purpose of:

  • bringing together the neurosciences and brain tumour research communities
  • highlighting some of the most exciting technologies and techniques available
  • building partnerships between both communities
  • discussing funding opportunities for multidisciplinary applications aiming to tackle the challenges facing brain tumour research.
