UK DRI Research Themes Project Manager

Roles & Responsibilities: Coordinate communication and knowledge sharing between researchers across all the UK DRI centres; managing theme budgets and membership; organising meetings, workshops and events which promote a strong working relationship, both between UK DRI researchers and the wider community.

Sarmi joined the UK DRI in March 2020 as the Research Theme Project Manager for neuroinflammation and vascular dementia. Prior to this role, she worked as a Senior Research Associate at Eli Lilly UK, where she managed a number of early phase drug discovery projects within the Pain Discovery group.

Following completion of her BSc in Biochemistry and MSc in Neuroscience, both at King’s College London, Sarmi undertook her PhD at the University of Southampton where she studied cognitive and synaptic dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease.

Sarmi has a 2nd dan black belt in taekwondo and has recently developed a keen interest in urban dance. She also loves travelling around the world.
