About us
The UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) is a globally leading multidisciplinary research institute of over 900 staff investigating the spectrum of neurodegenerative disorders causing dementia, driving a step change in our understanding of neurodegeneration, and accelerating the discovery, development and delivery of interventions that will help diagnose, treat, and ultimately prevent dementia.
Today, over 1M people in the UK are living with dementia and related neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and motor neuron disease (MND). The impact of these incurable and progressive conditions on individuals and their families is devastating. Societal costs are staggering and growing as the population ages.
Due to major advances in our understanding of the biology of these disorders the field is at an inflection point with the next decade promising to deliver transformative breakthroughs in therapies and a new era of predictive, preventative, and precision medicine. The UK is well placed to play a leading role in this revolution due to its strengths in science required for discovery and delivery, this is led by UK DRI working with our world class University based centres.
Our People and Culture (P&C) team at the UK Dementia Research Institute are deeply committed to our team’s success and our research impact. The person in this role will have experience in solution finding, problem-solving, and delivering a great customer service.
As a P&C Advisor/Partner, you will act as a trusted advisor and change agent through influencing and supporting our people managers. You will seamlessly move between autonomy, decision-making and operational activities that create a positive and engaging workplace.
You’ll act as a point of contact for the UK DRI covering the full lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding, pay and benefits, policy and process, and everything else in between. This includes ensuring our people practices follow the latest employment law.
Throughout your role, you will proactively design solutions by leveraging data to develop actionable insights to help us nurture an inclusive and happy environment.
About You
- Experience of being a trusted advisor and guide to people managers in implementing relevant policies and practices, including current knowledge of UK employment legislation; immigration law knowledge is a bonus.
- Highly collaborative and autonomous, with the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships at all levels in the organisation.
- Knowledge and awareness of implementing P&C projects and services.
- Forward thinking with a high learning agility and adaptability.
- Good analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Proficient in analysing data and developing actionable insights
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels.
- CIPD qualified and/or equivalent experience of working in People & Culture.
This role would suit an experienced advisor who has experience of working in a small team and is happy to get involved in key projects for a purposeful organisation.
