Biography

Dr Helen King is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Ryten Lab at the UK DRI at Cambridge, which she joined in 2026. She is a computational biologist who applies single-cell genomics, long-read sequencing and machine learning to understand how genetic information is used differently across brain cell types, and how disruption of this regulation contributes to selective cell loss in neurodegenerative disease.

Dr King completed her PhD in bioinformatics at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and UNSW Sydney, where she used single-cell VDJ, nascent-RNA, long-read and CRISPRi perturb-seq approaches to investigate RNA regulation in immunological disease and cancer.
