About CURE-ND

CURE-ND - Catalysing a United Response in Europe to Neurodegenerative Diseases - was launched in 2020 as an alliance between the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), the Paris Brain Institute (ICM), Mission Lucidity (ML) and the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI).

Together these partners embrace a joint effort to accelerate the pace of scientific discovery and nurture breakthroughs in the field of neurodegenerative diseases.

Besides bringing together excellent science to accelerate research and improve clinical care, CURE-ND aims to raise global awareness of the need to urgently address the challenge of neurodegenerative diseases, and to lobby for the necessary funding to be committed to research in this area.

The partners are calling for a long-term vision and funding of brain research in Europe.

CURE-ND activities

CURE-ND is a European alliance comprising of four non-profit research institutions, representing over  2000 scientists across the continent.

Its shared mission and ambition is to tackle the urgent challenge of neurodegenerative diseases. The alliance is committed to collaborating to understand the causes of neurodegeneration to help people affected by and at risk of neurodegeneration.

CURE-ND aims to build a strong, collaborative research and clinical community, promote a culture of scientific excellence and innovation, and train the next generation through annual international early-career researcher (ECR) workshops. Furthermore, the alliance facilitates knowledge exchange by sharing results and expertise through specialised symposia on clinical, technological, and other relevant topics, while also advocating for long-term investment in brain research across Europe. By working closely with European partners, UK DRI researchers have access to a wider network, with opportunities to exchange expertise, know how and tools.

Since the inception of CURE-ND, the partners have jointly hosted several events bringing together multidisciplinary perspectives in a variety of topics from neurotechnology, to disease modelling, and clinical advances for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

The Annual CURE-ND international Early Career Researchers (ECRs) scientific workshops, provide PhD Students, postdocs and technical staff with the opportunity to present their work to peers, exchange ideas, network, as well as have broader discussions around personal and professional development.
