Dr Mathieu Bourdenx

Group Leader

Biography

Dr Bourdenx received his doctoral training at the University of Bordeaux, where he studied mechanisms of neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s disease. He then joined the laboratory of Professor Ana Maria Cuervo at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where his work on chaperone-mediated autophagy helped clarify how failures of selective protein degradation drive neuronal dysfunction in ageing and disease. Over the past several years, he worked in the laboratory of Professor Karen Duff at the UK Dementia Research Institute at UCL, before establishing his own independent group in November, where his laboratory now combines experimental and computational approaches to understand cell-type-specific vulnerability to proteostasis loss in ageing and Neurodegeneration.
