Biography
Ayan is a Research Technician in the Bartels lab at the UK DRI at UCL. He began his career at the Vellore Institute of Technology, studying the toxicity of silver nanoparticles, before completing his Master's thesis in Prof. Vikram Khurana's group at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he used iPSC derived neuronal inclusionopathy models to screen novel alpha synuclein radiotracers and therapeutic candidates. He now studies how lipid rich alpha synuclein inclusions transition into fibrillar Lewy body like forms in iPSC derived neurons, and whether altering lipid metabolism can slow that transition and reduce neurotoxicity.
