Connectome is the UK DRI's annual conference. At the beginning of November, over 600 UK DRI members travelled to Harrogate for three days. The event was packed full of science and offered the important opportunity to connect with colleagues from different centres.
Speakers
A range of research areas were discussed throughout the three-day conference, and the keynote speakers were Michel Goedert and Ulrich Hartl.
UK DRI Recognition Awards Ceremony photos
The prizes were awarded by UK DRI Director Prof Siddharthan Chandran during a celestial themed celebration at the conference, with categories for PhD, Discovery, computational reproducibility, 3Rs, imaging, posters and engagement.
Early Career & Technologists (ECaT) Day
As part of the ECaT day programme, there was a focus on career development for ECRs and technologists, and members heard from UK DRI Platform labs about the range of technologies available to them to help further their research. Centre summaries spotlighted research teams, tools and techniques at each centre and provided an overview of activities across the Institute. There were also sessions on EDI and discussions around shaping inclusive research environments.
Posters and networking photos
Beyond the scientific talks, there were over 200 scientific posters on display. Connectome is a brilliant opportunity to connect with other researchers and the poster hall was packed with people engaged in conversation about their science.
SkillsXchange & networking tables
New for 2024, the SkillsXchange zone showcased the specialised scientific techniques available at the UK DRI, encouraging skill sharing and peer-to-peer learning. Expert guests were invited to discuss their experiences and career pathways in the networking area with UK DRI members.
Evening dinner event
This year's theme for the evening celebration was a galactic/space theme and UK DRI members were encouraged to dress for the event.
