About NIH CARD

The Center for Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias (CARD) is a cutting-edge research initiative established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to advance the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. CARD brings together a diverse team of scientists, clinicians, and experts in data science, genetics, and neurobiology to accelerate discoveries in these fields. The centre focuses on integrating multidisciplinary research efforts to identify biomarkers, develop innovative treatments, and ultimately improve patient outcomes.

Working with UK DRI

In April 2024, The "UK DRI-CARD Expertise Exchange Forum" brought together experts from the UK DRI and NIH CARD to foster collaboration and exchange insights in dementia research. The two-day Lindon event, organised by the UK DRI Core Team, featured presentations and discussions aimed at leveraging collective expertise to accelerate progress against neurodegenerative diseases across six different areas. Highlights included advancements in genetic diversity, ECR exchange schemes, smart technology applications in care, and innovative approaches using iPSC and animal models for disease understanding and therapeutic development.
