Centre Manager, UK DRI at Imperial
Roles & Responsibilities
- First point of contact for all centre operations
- Assist the Centre Director (Prof Paul Matthews) to develop and implement research strategies, initiatives and policies
- Develop centre communications and manage the website and social media channels
- Manage capital projects
- Coordinating the Scientific Advisory Board
- Host public/patient engagement and involvement activities
- Project manage large, multi-partner funding applications
- Financial management of the UK DRI budgets and related research grants
- Manage recruitment and retention of centre staff
- Organise seminars and events, workshops and team meetings
Jennifer joined Imperial in 2010 to establish the Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence, moving to her role in the UK DRI in 2018. With a research background including a PhD in Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery from the UCL School of Pharmacy and research positions at Princeton University and the Institute of Neurology, Jennifer transitioned to Research Management and never looked back. It is the diversity of the role she enjoys most – from supporting multi-million-pound collaborative grant applications to facilitating interdisciplinary workshops. It is a privilege to work closely with scientists at every level, from world experts in their fields to PhD students just beginning their careers.
