Biography
Roles & Responsibilities: Deliver an ambitious communications and engagement strategy to support the UK DRI’s scientific goals, build our identity and showcase our successes, working in partnership with our funders and host universities. Remit covers: community building, media, branding, policy/influencing, public engagement and involving people with lived experience of dementia in our work. As a member of the senior leadership team, collaborates with the Director and senior colleagues to shape the institute's strategic direction.
Lucy has led communications for the UK DRI since its inception in November 2016. Starting out based at the MRC, she moved to the UK DRI Core Team in January 2018. Prior to this Lucy gained broad experience in science communication at organisations including Cancer Research UK, The Physiological Society, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, STEMNET and BBC Horizon. Lucy has a BSc (Hons) Biology from the University of Bath and a MSc Science Media and Communication from Cardiff University.
