Lucy Wilson

UK DRI Director of Communications and Engagement

Roles & Responsibilities: Creating and delivering an ambitious communications strategy to support the UK DRI’s scientific goals, build our identity and showcase our successes. Includes connecting to our funders and host universities, running media activity, launching new initiatives in public engagement, establishing our patient involvement programme, setting up training programmes and facilitating public affairs.

Lucy has led communications for the UK DRI since its inception in November 2016. Starting out based at the MRC, she moved to the UK DRI Central Team in January 2018. Prior to this Lucy gained broad experience in science communication at organisations including Cancer Research UK, The Physiological Society, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and BBC Horizon.

Lucy has a BSc (Hons) Biology from the University of Bath and a MSc Science Media and Communication from Cardiff University.

She is a qualified sake sommelier and moonlights as a sake brewer and co-founder at Kanpai – the UK’s first sake brewery and taproom.
