Biography
Roles & Responsibilities: leads the early career researcher career development strategy. As part of the Scientific Affairs Team, Natalie also contributes to the development and coordination of intramural UK DRI funding programmes and advises and supports UK DRI researchers on extramural funding applications.
Natalie joined the UK DRI in October 2024 following five years working at the NC3Rs. At the NC3Rs, Natalie led on the PhD studentship and Training Fellowship funding schemes. This role included providing guidance to the research community, managing the application process, and post award support. Natalie also coordinated wraparound training and support for students, Training Fellows and postdoctoral researchers supported by the NC3Rs. In her previous role, Natalie also managed the International 3Rs Prize.
Natalie holds a PhD from Durham University, focusing on mitochondria and chaperone proteins in models of ageing and Alzheimer’s disease. Her interest in mitochondria led her to King’s College London, where she researched chemotherapy-induced neuropathy for five years before joining the NC3Rs.
